Friends Helping Friends

Referrals from satisfied clients enable me to grow my business so I created Friends Helping Friends as one way to say thank you. Listed below is a brief description of a product or service offered by some of my clients or others who support my business, and if available, a link directly to their web sites. Hopefully, one of them provides a service you could use.

Another way I thank clients for their support is by hosting an annual dinner for clients who began working with me in the calendar year and those who referred them. One client who I feel has done the most to support me is recognized before the group and a donation to their favorite local charity is made in their name.

Listed below are my favorite local charities, which I support financially and with my time.

Miriam's Kitchen- Over 1200 people annually roll up their sleeves and help Miriam's serve breakfast to those who are homeless in Washington, DC. It's a well run organization that was recognized in 2008 as "one of the best small charities in the Greater Washington region," according to the Catalogue for Philanthropy.  My wife and I have been regular volunteers since December 2007 where we spend two or more days per month preparing breakfast for Miriam's guests.

Catholic Business Network of Prince George's County - CBN-PG was founded in 1997 to provide business networking opportunites among it's members and to support Catholic education in Prince George's County. I have been actively involved with CBN-PG since it's inception and currently serve as President of the CBN-PG Board of Directors.

A Wider Circle - This is my newest "favorite" charity, whose mission is to "help individuals lift themselves out of poverty." Numerous programs provide basic need items like furniture and beds, education young mothers and assistance to those living in public housing. It's obvioulsy succeeding because A Wider Circle was recently named “one of the finest small charities Greater Washington has to offer” by the Catalogue for Philanthropy.

The Armed Forces Foundation - provides assistance, financial and otherwise, to members of the Armed Forces and their families.  Most of the soldiers I have met were combat wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan, and many of them are still receiving treatment for Traumatic Brain Injury. I have taken them on hunting trips and recently helped AFF organize its first Wounded Warrior sporting clays tournament. The determination of these young men to heal and their gratitude for what I consider small acts of kindness are quite uplifting and far outweigh the sadness of their often heartbreaking stories. I consider it an honor to serve those who serve our country.
